To think she was a heart-beat away

from the presidency. I have been reading a lot about Sister Sarah's Friday press conference, a lot of opinion columns. My favorite one started out with this paragraph and me laughing out loud.

"Truly, Sarah Palin has come a long way. When she ran for vice president, she frequently became disjointed and garbled when she departed from her prepared remarks. Now the prepared remarks are incoherent, too."

Please, read the rest. Gail Collins Op-ed column from the New York Times drives home the nutty egoist that is Sarah Barracuda Palin.

I'm certain Fox News will give her a job.

This shocking news comes as no surprise once you realize it fits perfectly with her reactionary personality.

I loved Paul Begala's article which analyzed some of the printed text...

"Let's stipulate that if there is some heretofore unknown personal, medical or family crisis, this was the right move. But Gov. Palin didn't say anything like that. Her statement was incoherent, bizarre and juvenile. The text, as posted on Gov. Palin's official website (here), uses 2,549 words and 18 exclamation points. Lincoln freed the slaves with 719 words and nary an exclamation; Mr. Jefferson declared our independence in 1,322 words and, again, no exclamation points. Nixon resigned the presidency in 1,796 words -- still no exclamation points. Gov. Palin capitalized words at random - whole words, like "TO," "HELP," and "AND," and the first letter of "Troops."

Gov. Palin's official announcement that she is resigning as chief executive of the great state of Alaska had all the depth and gravitas of a 13-year-old's review of the Jonas Brothers' album on Facebook.

She put her son's name in quotations marks. Why? Who knows. She writes, "I promised efficiencies and effectiveness!?" Was she exclaiming or questioning? I get it: both! And I don't even know what to make of a sentence that reads:

*((Gotta put First Things First))*

Ponder the fact that Rupert Murdoch's Harper Collins publishing house is paying this, umm, writer $11 million for a book. Ponder that and say a prayer for Ms. Palin's editor."

She'll fit right in with the other nut jobs at Fox.

I sure hope she takes a job at Fox. That's a relatively harmless place for her to be - most of the people who will find themselve enthralled with her show already love her anyway.

I read someone's quote that Sarah Palin was the greatest gift the state of Alaska has ever given the United States. Hu?

How does this impact the GOP? Thoughts?

I read the statement you linked to, Allison. Although I watched her in the debates and interviews, I was still surprised by the number of incomplete sentences and strange paragraph breaks in her statement.

She had 20 one sentence paragraphs and seven that began with the word "and". Didn't she have a proof reader? I hope very few Alaskan citizens would include the paragraphs:

Nah, only dead fish "go with the flow"

and

*((Gotta put First Things First))*

in an official government statement.

I also loved Begala's article. Her use of exclamation points is odd as was her 'speech' to resign. She was all over the place, very disjointed and speaking very quickly and breathlessly. I just read the Vanity Fair article, it shreds her up, I loved it.

She really belongs at Fox. PLEASE just not in politics where she might have some sort of influence on anything at all.
