Set Your DVR's

Obama will be on "The View" Thursday morning. This will be the first time a sitting U.S. president has visited a daytime talk show.

I hope Elisabeth Hasselbeck doesn't spit in his face.

A Travesty

I was having a perfectly lovely Saturday evening, finishing up my third True Blood novel and munching on my Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate bar when my good mood came to an abrupt halt. I heard Tim answer his cell phone in his office.

Tim: "Well thank you!"

Tim: "Thank you, but no I will have to turn you down."

Tim: "I've just got too much on my plate. Thanks again. Good bye."

I inquired as to what that was all about and this was his response:

"Oh they just offered me first car in the President's motorcade tomorrow."

"AND YOU TURNED THEM DOWN!?!?!?"

"Michelle, I am way too busy with homework."

"TIM, YOU MEAN YOU COULD HAVE BEEN IN FRONT OF OBAMA IN HIS MOTORCADE?!?"

(getting annoyed with me)

"I'm way too busy."

(me, trying not to hold his gun to his head and make him call that nice person back and accept his nice offer)

"AND I COULD HAVE RIDDEN WITH YOU!?"

"Probably."

I was furious. Effing doctorate homework! I could have been staring out the rear window at Obama and taking all kinds of pictures!

...and then he said:

"I already did this for Bush and I like him better anyway."

I'm starting divorce proceedings today and I told Tim he will never be forgiven.

To think she was a heart-beat away

from the presidency. I have been reading a lot about Sister Sarah's Friday press conference, a lot of opinion columns. My favorite one started out with this paragraph and me laughing out loud.

"Truly, Sarah Palin has come a long way. When she ran for vice president, she frequently became disjointed and garbled when she departed from her prepared remarks. Now the prepared remarks are incoherent, too."

Please, read the rest. Gail Collins Op-ed column from the New York Times drives home the nutty egoist that is Sarah Barracuda Palin.

I'm certain Fox News will give her a job.

Michelle Rocks

I guess going sleeveless in Congress for your husband's first important speech is unheard of? This is why I love her so completely. She is doing D.C. HER way, and how refreshing it is! Newsman Jack Cafferty has admitted to having a crush on her, "My Crush On Michelle Obama" hell, I have a crush on her. His commentary is spot on.

Her official portrait.
She is so cool that we need a new word for her type of cool.

All We Need Is Love

Same sex partners, do not give up. There will be a day, when your civil right to marriage will not be prohibited because of your sexual orientation. I do believe that bigotry and discrimination are really born of fear, fear of something different from us. It is a sad thing, that in this 21st century we are still dealing with ignorance in the name of calling it a moral issue.

It's simple actually, we, none of us have the right under any circumstances to tell someone else how they will live their life. I have a gay brother. I can't imagine telling him that 1. he can't marry his partner of 10 years and 2. it's because it will cause my marriage to become less relevant.

We have come a long way from slavery, Japanese internment camps, allowing women and African Americans to vote and the LDS Church not allowing African Americans to have the priesthood. We just took a huge step backward.

I believe one day, our brothers and sisters who were BORN gay will be able to marry the person they love.

The One

I had no one to celebrate with last night, Tim voted for McCain, so I found Fatness and we high-fived and embraced.

History was made.

I cried when I heard Charlie Gibson say "we are calling it, Obama has won." Thank you America for not letting something as stupid as the pigment of one's skin matter, thank you for a vote for hope.

In honor of our first African-American President, I cut my first roses of the season.

Palin Bingo

This is a great idea. For those of you who would like to play along tonight click here to print out your play card, there are 4 versions with phrases like "glass ceiling" "maverick" "Wasilla" "bad guys" "ummm" and "maritime border."

Every time Palin uses a phrase or word check your box. Some are doing it as a drinking game too, maybe Tim and I will do shots of Root beer, however, Tim won't find any of this funny because he is mesmerized by the Governor's beauty and cup size.

Hopefully Biden will be careful with the gaffes and allow Sarah plenty of time to speak her mind. I can't wait.

It's On

I'm finding this election moment fascinating, horrifying, thrilling, maddening and scary. After watching the Palin/Couric interviews I have realized that this woman makes Bush look like a scholar and she is sorely unqualified for the job. The right wing media is even beginning to wonder what McCain was thinking. One conservative columnist went so far as to say she should "bow out." I couldn't help but cringe inside as I watched her filibuster and verbally stagger her way through basic questioning.

There is no doubt that McCain in his "maverickky" way shot from his arthritic hip in an effort to bolster his poll numbers and try and win the Hillary votes by chosing Palin. His decision had nothing to do with putting country first, instead campaign first. The more I see him trying to pull his rabbit out of a hat the more angry I get. The latest razzle dazzle move of suspending his campaign and running to Washington to help with the bailout plan was laughable. Senator Dodd was not amused.

"What this looked like to me was a rescue plan for John McCain for two hours," said an angry Sen. Christopher J. Dodd (D-Conn.), who had all but declared the deal done earlier in the day. "To be distracted for two to three hours for political theater doesn't help."

What I want to hear tonight are some concrete answers from the candidates, I want to hear how they plan to get America back on track, with the economy, Iraq, foreign policies and how they plan to secure our retirements. Whoever wins this election has a massive duty ahead of them and it will take a lot more than Hail Mary's and grandiose posturing. No magic tricks please.

Click here for a CRINGE worthy moment. Palin on foreign policy.

Stepford Wife

Cindy responding to ABC asking about Palin's credentials:
"Alaska is the closest part of our continent to Russia. So, it's not as if she doesn't understand what's at stake here."

lol lol lol

And then we have the woman who didn't care about thrusting her pregnant 17 year old daughter into center stage and in the 90's was a member of The Alaskan Independence Party, they are the party pushing for a legal vote for Alaskans to decide whether or not residents of the 49th state can secede from the United States, crazies.

Country first McCain?
