Winslow/Holbrook

For Ordene's 80th birthday we got to travel to Holbrook! and stay in Winslow at one of my favorite places La Posada which is a rose among thorns, literally. Here is a small history lesson:

"Rated as one of the top 5 historic hotels in Arizona- La Posada was built in 1930 and was the last and most elegant of the Fred Harvey Hotels built by the Santa Fe Railroad. It was designed by Mary Colter- perhaps the greatest architect of the Southwest- as a fabulous Spanish hacienda."

Each time Tim and I stay there, they have added something new, renovations are slow due to funds and the massive undertaking. Here are some snapshots of the gardens, for some reason I took not one picture inside, I have no idea why.

And for good measure, a belly shot.

What a charming and beautiful hotel! Love the holly hocks - and the reflective water.... nice pics and a lovely, lovely place.

If I ever find myself in Winslow, AZ, I shall stay here.

Can't wait for your next blog installment.

Love hollyhocks!! They remind me of Grandpa's garden. La Posada looks gardenlike for being in Winslow, of all dusty places.

Loving the strip-ed belly.

Love the belly photo. :)

That looks like the kind of place I would like to stay. I'm glad you could go enjoy it!

My mom tells me that when she was a little girl, she used to pick hollyhock blossoms, and play with them... dance them around, as if they were girls in pretty ball gowns :)

I did the same thing with my cousins. The wide bloom was the gown and the small buds were their heads we attached with toothpicks.

LOL... I just barely noticed you peeking out from behind the hollyhocks. You look like you belong in there :)
